Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling


This half day course introduces candidates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling
and enables employees to contribute to the development of safer manual handling techniques
in the workplace.

The course covers subject areas including:

  • The process of manual handling in the workplace
  • Manual handling assessment and control options
  • Manual handling injuries and the activities which cause them
  • Responsibilities imposed by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations

Upon completion and subject to assessment the candidate will receive a CIEH accredited Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling.

Level 2 Award in Practices and Practices of Manual Handling


This one day course has been designed for those candidates who have to conduct any manual handling activities in the workplace. The course covers subject areas including:

  • Hazards of manual handling
  • Risks involved
  • Controls that are available to prevent injury
  • Principles of safer handling

This course is delivered in two parts:

  • Part One - Principles of Manual Handling (See above)
  • Part Two - Practical manual handling techniques. This part of the course offers candidates the opportunity to apply the principles of manual handling in to practice. The candidates will be expected to participate in seven practical activities demonstrating an awareness of the correct principles of movement. For flexibility for those candidates who have an existing CIEH Principles of Manual Handling certificate can attend a further half day training session and assessment to gain the full CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling - Principles and Practice

The maximum number of candidates that can be accommodated on this course is twelve.
