Automated external defibrillation.

The biggest killer in the UK is cardiac arrest. The rate of survival of a cardiac arrest casualty has dramatically increased with the use of an Automated External Defibrillation (AED). Without the use of an AED survival rate is around 6%.

This practical course allows candidates to confidently and effectively use an AED. This course also revisits the basic skills of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. Upon completion of this course candidates will be given a certificate that is valid for 12 months.

The course consists of both theoretical and practical activities that cover subject areas including:

  • AED - usage, maintenance and safety measures
  • Assessing
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Chain of Survival
  • Heart attacks and angina
  • Practical scenarios
  • Unresponsive casualty

The maximum number of candidates that can be accommodated on this course is six.
